boudhanath stupa- world largest stupa.

It is located at boudha about seven km east to the main city of kathmandu.

According to the khasti chitya, it is the oldest stupa in the country. It is an eminent holy place for buddhists.The stupa is said to be constructed in the 5th centuary. It has about 100 m diameter and 40 m height which is taken as the largest stupa of the world. There are more than 45 buddha stupas in this areas. It was enlisted in the world heritage site in 1979 A.D.
